Delta Sky Club LAX Review: Luxury & Lounge Perfection
Back in September, I took a trip to Atlanta and just “had” to visit the Delta Sky Club at LAX. This was my first time and was very impressed.
When you step into the Delta Sky Club at LAX, you’re welcomed into a luxurious 30,000-square-foot space designed for relaxation and productivity in the heart of one of the world’s busiest airports. Located between Terminals 2 and 3, this lounge offers a seamless escape from the airport's hustle, featuring cozy corners, workstations, and even an outdoor Sky Deck with panoramic views. Whether you’re gearing up for a domestic flight or preparing for an international journey, this lounge delivers on all fronts.
In this review, I’ll cover the lounge’s standout features, from its regional food and drinks to its exceptional amenities like private shower suites. I’ll also explain how to transfer easily from the lounge to Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT), perfect for travelers with international connections.
Location and Access
The Delta Sky Club is conveniently located post-security between Terminals 2 and 3. Its size ensures it rarely feels crowded, even during peak hours. Access is available through various options:
AmEx Platinum and Delta Reserve Cardholders: Complimentary access (with upcoming visit caps in 2025 unless you spend $75,000 annually on your card).
Delta One Passengers: Included with premium cabin tickets.
SkyMiles Elite Members: Eligible with international flights.
Sky Club Membership: Unlimited access for members.
AmEx cardholders can bring guests for $50, which can be reimbursed as an airline credit if Delta is set as your preferred airline.
Design and Atmosphere
Blending modern architecture with Southern California-inspired aesthetics, the lounge features wave-like ceiling panels and wood accents for a warm yet upscale feel. The thoughtfully designed layout offers quiet zones for work, social areas for relaxation, and standout spots like the Coffee Grotto, a cozy nook inspired by Hollywood’s Golden Age.
Food and Beverage Highlights
The lounge provides two expansive buffets featuring hot and cold dishes like soups, salads, pastas, and artisanal meats and cheeses. Seasonal ingredients ensure restaurant-quality options. For dessert, enjoy pastries, cookies, and other sweet treats.
For drinks, enjoy complimentary espresso, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages, including wine, beer, and cocktails. Premium drinks are available for purchase—and can be covered using Delta SkyMiles or AmEx airline credits.
A special feature is the lounge’s regional cuisine, created in collaboration with local chefs, bringing a unique taste of Southern California.
The Sky Deck Experience
One of the most notable features of this lounge is the Sky Deck, an outdoor terrace with spectacular views of the tarmac and LA skyline. Perfect for plane spotting, the Sky Deck offers fresh air, an outdoor bar, and comfortable seating. A retractable roof and heaters make it enjoyable year-round.
Shower Suites and Additional Perks
For those needing to refresh, the lounge offers eight private shower suites, each featuring walk-in showers, high-end toiletries, and plenty of space to relax and change. These suites are spa-like and rarely have long wait times.
Other perks include high-speed Wi-Fi, ample charging stations, and quiet workspaces, making the lounge a haven for both relaxation and productivity.
Getting to Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT)
If you’re connecting to an international flight at TBIT, there are two main options:
Shuttle: A convenient 10-15 minute ride from Terminal 2. Allow extra time during peak hours.
Walk: Use the new Terminal 3 walkway for a 10-minute stroll. Keep in mind, gates in TBIT’s new West Wing add another 15-20 minutes to the walk. And if you’re going to be on a long haul flight, this may be the only way to get your “steps” in.
Plan to leave the lounge 40-60 minutes before boarding to ensure enough time for the transfer and any additional security checks.
How Delta Sky Club Stacks Up
Compared to other LAX lounges, the Delta Sky Club stands out for its Sky Deck, offering open-air relaxation that competitors like United Polaris and American Airlines Flagship lounges lack. While premium options like the Qantas First Class Lounge and Star Alliance Lounge offer exclusive experiences, Delta’s spacious layout, diverse dining, and exceptional amenities make it a top contender for most travelers.
Conclusion: Worth the Visit?
If you’re looking for a lounge that combines comfort, convenience, and luxury, the Delta Sky Club at LAX is an excellent choice. Its unique features, such as the Sky Deck, private shower suites, and premium food offerings, create a pre-flight experience that’s hard to beat. While TBIT’s lounges may be more convenient for international travelers, Delta Sky Club’s expansive offerings make it a standout option for any traveler passing through LAX.
Would I visit again? Absolutely—especially when flying Delta. For international flights, it depends on proximity to my gate and alternative lounge options. But overall, this lounge offers a memorable experience that’s worth considering for your next trip.
